What are Short Breaks and Respite Care?

Short Breaks, also known as Respite Care, provide children and young people with opportunities to spend time away from their primary carers. These breaks can take place during the day, evening, overnight, weekends, or school holidays, and can occur in various settings such as the child's home, an approved carer's home, a residential setting, or a community location.

We work closely with families, Local Authorities, and Integrated Care Boards to design personalised short break packages that meet the unique needs of each young person. Our services are flexible and can be tailored to include:

  • Daytime activities

  • Overnight stays

  • In-home support

  • Community outings

Who Can Benefit?

Our Short Breaks & Respite Care services are available to children and young people who:

  • Have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)

  • Require additional support due to emotional, behavioural, or mental health challenges

  • Are at risk of family breakdown due to caregiving pressures
